Weekend Recap

Today started off with a refreshing 3 mile run at 7am. I’m so happy the weather is finally nice enough to run outside! I hate not being able to run and start the day with a clear head. Gotta love cardio!

This past weekend was another fun adventure! It started off on Friday at The Nick in Birmingham AL. I love the history behind that place. We shared the stage with The Tyler Bryant band and Space Ghost. We also finally met our G6 ghost. (Sorry I called you out from the stage Richard, but I’m glad we finally met.) Richard is a friend on Twitter and he was always tweeting about flying to our shows, so we started referring to him as G6. We weren’t sure if he was messing with us or really flying to our shows until we finally met face to face this past weekend.

On Saturday we drove to Columbus Ga. We played at a great place called Flip Flops. It was a fun hang. Before we played, a couple of guys in the bar got a little heated and headed outside to fight. They ended up getting separated by the police before the first punch was ever thrown. The sound of a taser gun really deflated the situation fast.

The 3hour drive back to our hotel at 2 in the morning was a rough one. Lots of deer along the interstate. Tim was driving so Blake and I were on deer patrol. We were all so tired that by the time we yelled deer, it would have been to late to react because it was already past us. It’s amazing what clumps of grass and reflectors can look like at 4 in the morning. We ended up made it back safely though.

Now it’s on to practicing violin for a rehearsal tonight.

Until the next adventure….

August 1st 2011

Now that I’ve finally had the chance to catch my breath, I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who came out to our shows and supported us this weekend! It was one of the best ones yet.

Friday started out a little crazy when Henry (our bass player) had car issues, but thankfully everything worked out! We pulled up to Busters in Lexington KY just in time to hear Warrant sound check “Heaven isn’t to far away”. They were all very nice guys. We played our set to a pretty full house and the crowd was awesome. They had as much energy as we did. I was pretty shocked at the end of the night when we ended up selling out of almost all of our merch! To those of you who didn’t get a CD, email me and I will send you info on how to order one. (You can message me directly from our website.) Also, don't forget to signup for our mailing list!

Saturday it was on to Louisville KY where we played at the 3rd Street Dive. Great bar! We pulled into Louisville around 2:30 and had several hours to kill before we could load in. Henry got the itch to get a new tattoo so we found a place and he got some fresh ink. I was going to get a new little one but we ran out of time. Oh well, maybe next time.

Louisville and I go way back. Several years ago, I used to play fiddle at a bluegrass festival there and oddly enough, there were some people at our show who knew me from those days. It was nice to see some faces from what I call my previous life. After our show we decided to make the late night drive back to Nashville and got in around 5 in the morning. I’m not sure I’ve caught up on sleep.

Speaking of sleep, I think I’m going to head that direction now. I’ve got another full week ahead. Between teaching violin/fiddle lessons, band rehearsal, writing appointments and shows this weekend, sleep is something that I don’t get enough of!

Until next time….

July 29th & 30th

Well it’s finally here! We are gearing up for our weekend in Kentucky. Band rehearsal tonight then we’re rolling out in the morning. I’m excited to be playing at Busters in Lexington KY again. It’s one of my favorite venues. Huge room and a great stage! I’m also looking forward to opening for Warrant! Love their song “Cherry Pie” Saturday we are heading over to Louisville KY and hitting up a place called the Third Street Dive. I’ve never been there before but it sounds like a cool hang. We will be sharing the stage with the Lexington band - Those Crosstown Rivals.

Come out if you get a chance! I’ll post more about this weekend and hopefully some picts later!

Vacation Update

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend. I usually take one week off from everything, once a year to spend time with my family and that happens to be this week! My vacation started out at Lake of the Ozarks on Friday. I spent 2 beautiful days on the water. Even though it was extremely hot, I loved being on the boat. I was a little sore Sunday morning from all of the bouncing around while tubing but it was worth it. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing!

Sunday, I ventured to downtown St. Louis Mo to watch fireworks and Maroon 5. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t corporate and all of the events ended up getting canceled due to a thunderstorm. Figures! Monday, I watched my nephew ride on a float in his local 4th of July parade. It’s primarily a farming town so there were a lot of tractors. Check out the photo at my FB page. Oh the thing’s you’ll see at the Steelville IL parade!

Today, I helped my mom give out food at the food pantry. It was my job to welcome everyone and get them signed in. It was a great experience and I believe everyone should volunteer at least once. It’s amazing what a smile can do.

I’ve got a couple of vacation days left so, for now, I’m going to get out and enjoy the day!

Fun Weekend

My week started out a little rocky with different issues and problems needing to be solved. Why does everything always seem to come down to the last minute? I hate getting stressed out over things that I can’t control but it always seems to happen. Oh well. As the week went on, things improved greatly. We opened for Sleeper Agent and Company of Thieves in Lexington KY at Busters on Friday and had a blast! We played most of our new material and got a great response. It was a nice site to see people waiting at our merch table after our set. :) Busters is one of my favorite places to play and we hope to be back there soon. If you live near Lexington KY, I suggest checking this place out.

It’s been a while since I pulled a 24-hour day but Friday was one of those days. The drive back to Nashville from Lexington was a little rough. At one point, while I was driving, Blake was trying to keep me awake and we kept getting lost in our conversation because we were both just talking to stay awake. I don’t know how many times I said, “What were we talking about again?” Soon after that, I switched out with Tim! I’m happy to say that we obviously made it home safely.

After a couple of hours of sleep, I had to be on the General Jackson for a dress rehearsal and show. It was fun as always. Since the whole show is country, I like trying to add a little bit of rock n roll when I play electric guitar. :) The audience seems to like it to! Hahaha

Well, enough from me for today. I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend and Thank You so much to everyone who came out to support us in Lexington on Friday! We love you guys!

Hey Khaos Blog readers!!

Wow, I can’t believe today is only Wednesday. It’s already been a busy week! I had a weekend off this month so I took the opportunity to visit with my family. I haven’t seen them in a while and it’s always nice to be back home. We spent Friday at Six Flags in St. Louis Mo. It was a blast! I had fun reminiscing about playing there, during the summer, when I was in grade school. I got back in to Nashville on Monday morning and announced our new pledge incentives at our Kickstarter page. As most of you know, we are currently in the recording process and have decided to let everyone hear some of our new songs! I am really excited about them. Check them out when you get a minute and let me know what you think. They are posted at our Katie Kerkhover and the Die Nasties Facebook page. You can find the link on our homepage.

I’ve gotta run for now. I have to practice for the General Jackson shows this week. I’ll be playing on the showboat the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th if anyone happens to be in town and wants to see some fiddle playing! Haha I also play electric guitar as well. If nothing else, you can just come out to see me in a crazy country outfit!

Until next time…..
